West Bengal: 3 Kolkata tourists drown in Mandarmani sea

Kolkata, Sept 17 (IBNS): Three tourists from Kolkata reportedly drowned in the sea of Mandarmani in West Bengal's East Midnapore district on Saturday afternoon.

According to reports, a group of fifteen friends from Kolkata reached Mandarmani in the afternoon and despite of police warnings, few of them had started swimming in the sea, when all were in a drunken state.

Suddenly, around 3 pm. three of them- Sumantra Banerjee, Lokesh Mehrotra and Binay Chowdhury- drowned in the sea.

After the accident, police started rescue operation and recovered the body of Sumantra Banerjee from the sea, while bodies of the remaining duo have not been found till the last update came in.

According to police officials, three IT professionals- Sumantra Banerjee, Lokesh Mehrotra and Binay Chowdhury- were the residents of Kolkata's Newtown, Salt Lake and Tegharia areas respectively.
