West Bengal: 1 killed, 8 injured in TMC-SUCI tussle over land

Kolkata, Nov 17 (IBNS): At least one man was killed and eight others were injured during a clash between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and SUCI activists over a local land conflict at Gopalganj village under Kultali Police Station limits in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Thursday night, reports said.

According to reports, activists of TMC and SUCI engaged in clash with each other during a conflict over land.

As many as nine supporters of both parties were seriously hurt in the clash and rushed to nearby hospital.

One of them, SUCI activists Subhash Das, was shifted to a Kolkata hospital and he died on the wee hours of Friday.

Protesting the incident, the SUCI observed 12-hour-long general strike at the area on Friday, while local leaders of state's ruling party denied their involvement in the case.

According to district police officials, as many as 14 persons have been arrested so far for their alleged involvement in the clash.
