Kolkata, Oct 10 (IBNS): The results of the recently concluded municipal election in West Bengal was declared on Saturday where the Trinamool Congress (TMC) registered a massive win in Bidhannagar, Howrah and Asansol municipal corporations.

The main oppositions- Left Front, BJP and Congress- were wiped out in the election. No opposition could win a seat in Bally.

Amid violence, municipal polls in Kolkata's satellite town Salt Lake (Bidhannagar) and West Bengal's second largest city Asansol, besides 16 wards of Bally, which is being amalgamated with the Howrah Municipal Corporation, were conducted on Oct 3.

The ruling TMC, which was alleged of committing violence, jamming the booths, rigging, won 37 seats out of 41 in Bidhannagar, 75 seats out of 106 in Asansol and all 16 wards in Bally.

TMC leaders congratulated people of the state for the party's victory in the polls.

TMC leader and WB Panchayat and Rural Development minister Subrata Mukherjee said in a press conference here, "This is a victory of democracy, victory of people of the state. We want to say thanks to the people of Bengal for your trust on Mamata Banerjee and her developments in the entire state."

Opposition parties claimed that the 'abnormal' results in every municipal corporation had proved the civic polls were not conducted in a free and fare environment.

CPI-M leader Gautam Deb told IBNS: "These results are not the reflection of voters. This is a result of endless rigging and booth capturing by the TMC."
