Vasundhara Raje attends NITI meeting, leaves Delhi without meeting top leaders

| | Jun 27, 2015, at 09:41 pm
New Delhi, June 27 (IBNS) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is embroiled in a raging controversy over her links with former IPL chief Lalit Modi, attended a meeting of the Niti Aayog in Delhi on Saturday, but contrary to expectations she did not meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi or BJP president Amit Shah.
Media reports claimed that the Chief Minister  was advised to return to Jaipur immediately after the sub-committee meeting and she did not seek any appointment with the senior leaders.

Speculations were doing rounds that Raje will hold talks with BJP's top brass at a time the party is struggling to overcome the storm over a document that she signed in support of Lalit Modi's immigration application to the UK government.

The fomer cricket administrator faces charges of corruption and money laundering.

Raje her party are under persistent attack of the Congress-led opposition for helping out a "fugitive."

The Congress has also demanded immediate resignation of Raje.

However, Raje got a clean chit from the party and came to the capital to attend the NITI Ayog meeting after cancelling her scheduled trip to London.

Reports said that the centre on Friday reviewed documents submitted by Raje and found no irregularities in them.

On Friday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to discuss the issue.
