Uri attack: Pakistani envoy summoned, presented proof
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar informed Basit about the two guides who helped in infiltration, officials said.
They were apprehended by local villagers and have been taken into custody by Indian security forces.
MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said the two guides were identified as Faizal Hussain, 20, and Yasin Khurshid, 19.
"Foreign Secretary calls in Pakistan HC Basit today & presents proof of Cross border origins of #UriAttacks.1/n," Swarup tweeted.
He said: "Informs him that the two guides who helped infiltration were apprehended by local villagers and are now in custody 2/n."
He said the identity of one of the attackers was also revealed during the meeting.
The attacker was identified as Hafiz Ahmed.
Swarup said: "Preliminary interrogation reveals identity of one of d slain Uri attackers:Hafiz Ahmed,S/o Feroz,R/o Dharbang, Muzaffarabad. "
"Details of handlers also obtained:Mohd.Kabir Awan &Basharat.FS terms continuing CB terrorist attacks frm Pak against India as unaccpt'le.n/n," he said.
India witnessed a major militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri town on Sept 18 which left 18 soldiers martyred.
India has also launched a campaign against Pakistan at the United Nations' platforms for aiding and abetting terrorism.
