UP: Bomb scare forces evacuation of passengers from Akal Takht Express

Amethi, Aug 10 (IBNS): Passengers from at least two coaches of the Akal Takht Express were evacuated on Thursday after the train was stopped at a station in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, because a suspicious object was found on-board, reports said.

The object was later confirmed to be a low intensity bomb.

A threat letter too was recovered, police said.

However, while the ANI news agency reported that only passengers from two compartments were evacuated, CNN News18 said that all the passengers were evacuated.

The Amritsar bound train had departed from Kolkata.

The bomb was found near the wash basin in one of the two-tier coaches, reports added.

The letter supposedly warned the government about avenging Abu Dujana's death.

Dujana, a Pakistani national, was a designated Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist who was killed in an encounter a few days ago.
