Union government taking steps to diffuse violence in Jammu and Kashmir
New Delhi, Jul 12 (IBNS): In view of the continued violence in Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked Home Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to monitor the situation, the media reported on Tuesday.
Rajnath Singh and Ajit Doval are also expected to meet on Tuesday.
The Ministry of External Affairs is expected to separately issue a statement on Pakistan's role related to the violence in Kashmir, according to media reports.
Prime Minister Modi, on Tuesday, has also asked the people of Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace in the region.
The Union government is keen to diffuse the situation in Kashmir as fast as possible and has asked the armed forced to be judicious in their task, media reported.
Curfew continued for the fourth straight day on Tuesday in the Kashmir Valley which has been witnessing violence since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen (Hizb) commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
The death toll in the violence between protesters and security forces has touched 29.
At least 800 people have been injured in the clashes so far.
Wani, a 22-year-old commander of Kashmir's largest militant group HM, was killed along with two associates during a brief gun battle with government forces on Friday.
