Turkey Military Coup: Sushma urges Indians in Turkey to avoid bloodshed

New Delhi, July 16 (IBNS): India's External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj on Saturday urged the Indians in Turkey to avoid bloodshed, after the country faced a military coup on Friday evening.

Urging compatriots to stick to democracy, Swaraj tweeted, "India calls upon all sides to support democracy, mandate of the ballot and avoid bloodshed.#Turkey"

She also asked the Indians to stay indoors until things get better.

"Indian nationals in Turkey : Pl stay indoors and in touch with @IndianEmbassyTR Ankara: +905303142203 Istanbul:+905305671095  @mjakbar." Swaraj tweeted.

The EA Minister said that the ministry is keeping a close eye on the developments there.

"We have been closely following the developments in #Turkey," Swaraj tweeted.
