Three rhinos poachers nabbed in Assam

Guwahati, Sept 25 (IBNS): The Assam police on Sunday apprehended three rhino poachers from Assam’s Nagaon district, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and Special Task Force (STF) apprehended the poachers from Dhing area in Nagaon district.

Rs 1,46,500 cash also seized from the apprehended poachers.

The trio had involved in a number of poaching cases in the Kaziranga National Park in past times.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had ordered the forest department and police to take stern action against poachers and appropriate measures to protect wild animals in the state.

Assam had lost over 250 one horned rhinos which were poached in past 15 years.
