Guwahati, Aug 4 (IBNS): Poachers killed another one horned rhinoceros in Assam's Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on Wednesday night and managed to flee with its horn.

At least three rhinos have been killed in the past 24 hours in the World Heritage Site.

On Thursday morning, forest guards of the park found the de-horned carcass of a male rhino inside the park.

Kaziranga has lost 25 rhinos in this year so far.

In the recent flood, at least 14 rhinos died in the park.

On the other hand, the state forest minister has urged the state government to deploy army in KNP and to launch intensive operation against the poachers.

“There have lack of infrastructure in the World Heritage Site and shortage of manpower to protect wild animals. I have discussed for various issues with the Chief Minister,” state forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma said.
