Swaraj Samwad is a brand of alternative politics: Yogendra Yadav
Addressing the media during a press conference here, Yadav said, “I am here in Kolkata for Swaraj Samwad which has been organized by Swaraj Abhiyan. It’s a movement for strengthening the alternative politics of our country, which began on the 14th of April. We have already organized a couple of conferences in Bangalore, Guwahati, Islampur and are doing two today, one here (in Kolkata) and the other in Punjab under the leadership of Prashant Bhushan.”
“The goal is to have such conferences all over the country by the 15th of June,” he added.
Speaking about the current political scene in India, he said, “The country has witnessed a rise of a new energy. So far we have realized only a tiny proportion of that energy. The new politics that we have witnessed in the last 2-3 years had a significant success. People were willing to embrace an alternative and that a small political force could take on a big political party.”
He however continued, elaborating the details of discontinuity in politics, “However the potential of alternative energy were not to be realized because the party that emerged from this movement itself became a victim of some of the standard disease of our political system. Namely, Delhi centeredness, high command culture, personality cult and as a result what could have been a nationwide alternative politics got reduced only to the business of winning election and forming a government. That too in only one state of the country.”
He said West Bengal needs an alternative politics.
When quizzed about their intention to contest the 2016 poll in Bengal, he replied, “Election is not the only thing we look up to. The desperation is the root of all evils today, we are determined. We are in no hurry to contest the election. We want to gather energy slowly.”
On his eviction from the Aam Aadmi Party, he commented, “I have not received any orders so far.”
He also clarified that his name was not present in the charge sheet presented by the AAP.
Attacking the Trinamool Congress (TMC) rule in West Bengal, he said “The Left destroyed the democratic culture in the state (West Bengal). Trinomool have followed on their footsteps. The minimum elementary democratic protocols are being voided. I used to hold the Left Front responsible for reducing democratic spaces in the country but Trinomool have outdone everyone. They took on all the sins of the Left and have added few of their own. So this is really very depressing.”
Yadav said the Bharatiya Janata Party is directly playing the communal card.
He strongly feels that the country needs a fresh guard in politics and have asked everyone to be a part in the big change that he is spearheading.
Ending all speculations, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had expelled rebel leaders Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan and two others from the party last month.
The party has said they have expelled as they had indulged in gross indiscipline and anti-party activities.
