Sushma Swaraj wants to make statement in Parliament on Lalit Modi issue

New Delhi, Jul 20 (IBNS) External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is under opposition fire allegedly for helping scam-tainted former IPL boss Lalit Modi, is keen to make a statement in Parliament on the controversy, media reports said.
The opposition Congress had been demanding Swarj's dismissal from the cabinet alleging that she had helped Lalit Modi, a "fugitive", accused of money laundering and foreign exchange rules violation, obtain documents to travel out of Britain last year.

However, defending herself, Swaraj has claimed that she  helped  Modi on "humanitarian grounds", so he could be with his wife for her treatment in Portugal.

At an all-party meeting, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a united opposition demanded an investigation against  Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, also accused of having close ties with Lalit Modi.

The BJP's top leaders including the Prime Minister met last night to finalize their strategy and decided that hey will give full support to party leaders being targeted by the opposition.
