Stop making unnecessary statements: Lalu tells alliance leaders

Patna, Sept 13 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): RJD president Lalu Prasad has advised all in the ruling Grand Alliance in Bihar to refrain from making unnecessary statements.

“Everyone in the alliance should maintain decorum and refrain from making unnecessary statements. We shouldn’t do anything which could benefit the BJP,” Prasad told a section of media , reacting to demand from the JD-U leadership to ‘rein in’ RJD leaders.

The move is being seen as an open rejection of demand by the JD-U leadership to restrain RJD leaders.

The JD-U leaders had yesterday sought for restraining RJD leaders, particularly party vice-president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh by holding a formal Press conference and said they couldn’t ignore the statements coming from the senior RJD leaders like him.

Prasad also backed Mohammad Shahabuddin saying the latter didn’t say anything objectionable.

“What’s wrong if Shahabuddin said Lalu is his leader? There is no reason for Nitish Kumar to get annoyed,” Prasad said.

Shahabuddin who was released from jail after 11 years of incarceration on Saturday has kicked up political storms by stating that “Nitish Kumar is a chief minister by circumstances while his leader is Lalu Prasad”.

He also rejected Kumar being a “mass leader” saying the latter “can’t win more than 20 seats if he contests the elections alone.”
