Spurious IMFL unit busted in Guwahati, two persons arrested

Guwahati, Sept 9 (IBNS) : The sleuths of BIEO and Assam Excise department on Saturday busted a spurious Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) unit and seized huge quantity liquor in Guwahati.

Based on intelligence input, Assam police’s BIEO and Excise department officials jointly launched operation at Sarusajai area in the capital city of Assam and seized over 1200 cases illegal IMFL from a godown run by liquor mafia Rajesh Jalan, who was earlier arrested by CID in connection with multi crore rupees BG Bonded Warehouse scam.

The team led by ADGP of BIEO YK Gautam and Excise inspector Khirod Saharia had also arrested two persons identified as Papu Singh and Sudev Singh in connection with it.

Assam Excise department PRO Sailendra Pandey said that, Rajesh Jalan and his associates had transported the illegal liquor from unit to many places of the state.

The state Excise department PRO said that, Assam Excise minister Parimal Suklabaidya had ordered the department to take necessary action against the officials and employees, those were engaged on duty at the area where the illegal activities run since long time.
