Several TN opposition leaders arrested for agitation

Chennai, Oct 17 (IBNS): Several opposition leaders in Tamil Nadu were arrested on Monday after they supported the 48-hour rail roko agitation called by various farmer's organisation, reports said.

Farmers staged the protests in Tiruchi and delta districts demanding the constitution of a Cauvery management board, The Hindu reported.

The protesters reportedly cooked food on the railway tracks.

Former DMK Minister K.N. Nehru, former Speaker R. Avudaiyappan, Palayamkottai MLA T. P. M. Mohideen Khan, former MLA Appavu were all arrested by police, the daily reported.
