Seven suspected NSCN-K militants killed in army operation in Nagaland

Kohima, Jul 17 (IBNS) Seven suspected militants of the underground NSCN(Khaplang) were killed in an encounter in Nagaland's Phek district near the India-Myanmar border on Wednesday.

Reports said two civilians, who were caught in the gunbattle were also killed while an army officer sustained injuries.

The Army's 12 Para Commandos and 46 Assam Rifles carried out a joint operation on Wednesday following inputs on movement of militants.

During the operation, the security forces encountered a group of armed NSCN-K militants who started  firing leading to exchange of fire for about an hour.

Two AK series rifles and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from the spot.
