Renowned Sufi singer Pyarelal Wadali passes away in Amritsar, PM Modi expresses grief

Amritsar/New Delhi, Feb 9 (IBNS): Pyarelal Wadali, one of the singers of the legendary Sufi singers, the Wadali Brothers, passed away in Amritsar on Friday after cardiac arrest, media reports said. PM Modi expressed his grief over the singer's demise.

Pyarelal Wadali, 75, was the younger brother of Ustad Puran Chand Wadali. He was admitted in Fortis Escorts Hospital in Amritsar on Thursday, reports said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was quoted in a tweet by the PMO as saying, "Saddened by the demise of Shri Pyarelal Wadali. His renditions attained great popularity globally. His work will continue to draw people towards the joys of Sufi music. May his soul rest in peace."

Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh said that he has asked the state administration to arrange for ceremonial honours during the cremation ceremony of the singer.

He tweeted, "A sad moment for the Sufi music world and a personal loss. Have many fond memories of #PyarelalWadali, the younger of the Wadali Brothers fame. His sudden demise has left us all aggrieved. I’ve asked the administration to ensure ceremonial honour for his cremation."

Union Minister of Culture, Dr Mahesh Sharma tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the demise of Ustad #PyarelalWadali Ji, younger of the famed Wadali Brothers duo. This is a sad day for music industry and music lovers. My heartfelt condolences to his Family, Friends and Followers. May his soul #RIP

Singer Daler Mehendi tweeted, "Punjab De Shahenshah singer #PyarelalWadali Ji who took the Punjabi literature and music to highest levels across the globe leaves this world today. May his soul RIP. What water is to fish #WadaliBrothers is to Punjab."

The Wadali Brothers's rendition of Aye Rangrez Mere in the Bollywood film Tanu Weds Manu and Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi in Mausam were highly appreciated.
