New Delhi, July 22 (IBNS): Three days from now, the country is going to get its new 'first citizen' as the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Ram Nath Kovind is all set to be held on July 25.

Kovind, who was an NDA candidate, swept the Presidential poll by a margin of 32% of electoral votes.

He was named as the newly elected President on Thursday.

Kovind secured 7,02,044 out of 10,69,358 valid votes polled, which is approximately 66%.

The President-designate, who comes from Uttar Pradesh, became the second Dalit President of India after K R Narayanan.

The Presidential poll turned out to be a battle between two Dalits, Ram Nath Kovind and Meira Kumar. Kumar fought as a joint candidate of 17 opposition political parties.

Kovind, the former Bihar Governor, will succeed incumbent Pranab Mukherjee.
