Rahul Gandhi condoles loss of lives in Bawana fire

New Delhi, Jan 21 (IBNS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday condoled the loss of lives in the Bawana factory fire incident that left at least 17 people dead.

Gandhi wished speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.

"My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the fire at Bawana, Delhi. My prayers and thoughts are with you as you struggle to come to terms with this tragedy. I also pray that those injured make a speedy recovery," Gandhi tweeted.

Seventeen people have died in a fire which erupted at a plastic factory in north Delhi's Bawana industrial area this evening, media reports said.

One person has reportedly jumped from the first floor of the factory sustaining a leg injury.

The fire was caught at the ground floor initially at around 6.20 p.m. on Saturday.

Around 10 fire engines were at the spot immediately after the fire break out.

The cause of the fire is yet to be known.
