Srinagar, Aug 26 (IBNS): Three security personnel-two CRPF Jawans and a head constable of police-were killed during an ongoing encounter with militants in Pulwama Police Line in south Kashmir on Saturday.

Six other security personnel, two of them from Jammu and Kashmir police and three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men, were injured after the militants, believed to be fidayeen, attacked the  District Police Lines.

According to officials, heavily armed militants struck the high security area close to the DC and SSP office on Shopian Pulwama highway around 3:45 am on Saturday.

The fidayeen militants lobbed grenades and opened indiscriminate fire inside the camp.

All the injured were shifted to District Hospital Pulwama where from they were referred to Srinagar in critical condition.

“Efforts are on to neutralize suspected militants and during fire fight we lost one cop of Jammu and Kashmir and many others are injured,” a police official said.

Meanwhile, Internet services were suspended in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district after militants stormed the camp.

An official said that mobile Internet services were suspended as a “precautionary measure” to maintain the law and order situation.
