Patna High Court orders for installing CCTV cameras in all Bihar courts

Patna, Nov 17(TheBiharPost/IBNS): The Patna High Court administration has asked the Bihar chief secretary to install CCTV cameras in all the district civil courts and sub-divisional courts at the earliest in a bid to check corruption in the “temples justice”.

Reports quoting the local media said chief justice of the Patna High Court justice Rajendra Menon has also asked the state chief secretary to intimate when this process would be completed.

The instruction comes in the light of a recent exposes showing the court officials of Patna Civil court allegedly taking bribes to facilitate shifting of prisoners and under-trials to their choice jails and managing dates for hearing or appearance in the court.

Taking the matter seriously, the court administration has suspended 16 of its officials so far and also initiated departmental proceedings against them on bribery charges, tarnishing the image of the judiciary.

This is the first time that the court administration has launched a crackdown on corruption and initiated tough action against so many officials found allegedly involved in corrupt practices.
