New Delhi, Aug 1 (IBNS): A unified Opposition in the Upper House on Tuesday protested against the government's decision of hiking prices of LPG cylinders, media reports said.

The government has taken the decision a day ago to hike the price of domestic cooking gas (LPG) by Rs. 4 to ultimately eliminate the subsidy by March 2018.

Opposition leaders from Congress, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party and Left stormed into the well of the House demanding a withdrawal of the decision taken by the government.

TMC MP Derek O'Brien raised the issue which was followed by other leaders in the RS, reports said

The issue was raised in the Lok Sabha also.

However, Minister of the State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan was quoted by Hindustan Times: "Subsidy will not be cut down, it will only be rationalised. The (Opposition) uproar is baseless."
