Patna, Nov 13 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has announced to dismiss official from job if caught not helping the common men redressing their problems.

The chief minister made this announcement while addressing a meeting in Sitamarhi town on Saturday evening as part of his “Nischay yatra” (resolve tour).

“You (the people) don’t need to move here and there with your problems. The officials found not redressing your problems will not only be penalized but will also be dismissed from service,” Kumar said.

The state government launched the ambitious Bihar Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act at a function held in June this year.

The new law which is first of its kind in India entitles citizens to seek redressal of their grievances within a stipulated period of 60 days.

The Act has provisions for punishment of officials, including their dismissal, if they fail to dispose off the genuine grievances of the citizens within the set time-frame.
