NRS: Police arrests medical student

Kolkata, Dec 17 (IBNS): The detective department of Kolkata Police has arrested a first-year student of Nil Ratan Sarkar (NRS) College and Hospital in connection with Korpan Shah murder case on Tuesday night.

According to police reports, name of the arrested student is Jasimuddin and he is from Maldah district in West Bengal.

After 5 hours of questioning in Lalbazar police headquarter on Tuesday, Jasimuddin has been arrested.

Joint commissioner of police (crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh said, “Jasimuddin was arrested at 10.40pm for his complicity in the murder case.”

Police produced Jasimuddin in Sealdah court on Wednesday.

The judge of Sealdah court, Arpita Ghosh sent him to police custody up to Dec 24 for further interrogation.

Korpan Shah was found dead in the boys' hostel of the NRS Medical College and Hospital on Nov 16.

The man died after he was allegedly beaten up by students and junior doctors of Kolkata's NRS Medical College and Hospital, the police said.
