Islamabad, Oct 3 (IBNS): Amid growing tensions, major political parties attended a meeting, which was chaired by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in the country on Monday to discuss the topic of India.

"The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the leaders of the Political and Parliamentary parties including, Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (Co-Chairman PPP), Syed Khurshid Ali Shah (Leader of Opposition), Moulana Fazalur Rehman (JUI-F), Mr. Mehmood Khan Achakzai (PKMAP), Sadr-ud-Din Rashidi, (PML-F), Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, (NPP), Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, (ANP), Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar and Dr. Khalid Maqbool (MQM),Mr. Aitzaz Ahsan, Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, Mr. Naveed Qamar, Ms. Sherry Rehman and Mr. Farhatullah Babar (PPP), Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Ms. Shireen Mazari and Engr. The Prime Minister was assisted by senior members of the Cabinet," read a statement issued by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Joint statement by the leaders of the Political & Parliamentary Parties as released by the Ministry read: "That the people, the government, the political parties and the armed forces of Pakistan are firmly united in supporting the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination, as guaranteed to them in the UNSC resolutions."

"That we condemn the recent unprovoked Indian aggression and repeated ceasefire violations that pose a threat to regional peace and security," it said.

The leaders condemned India's 'documented interference' in Balochistan.

"That we call upon the PM to strengthen national unity to deal with external threats and in that spirit all current national issues be resolved so as to build democratic and parliamentary inclusion," read the statement.

Meanwhile, at least two militants and a jawan were killed during an attack at an army base in Baramulla town of north Kashmir on Sunday, officials said.

Amid mass anger in India over the Uri Army camp attack in Kashmir, India on Wednesday past midnight carried out surgical strikes crossing the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, targeting terrorist launchpads working from within the neighbouring country, the army said.

The strikes were launched by the Indian Army at the KG sector of Poonch district. Two Pakistani soldiers were reportedly killed.

Pakistan denied that there were surgical attacks calling India's claims as "fabrication of truth".

PM Nawaz Sharif also warned India against any aggression.

The attack in Uri had left 19 Indian soldiers martyred on Sept 18.
