Guwahati, Oct 16 (IBNS): A man tried to commit suicide at Assam’s Capital Complex in Dispur in Guwahati on Monday evening after he failed to meet Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

According to the reports, the man identified as Bidur Choudhury hailing from lower Assam’s Boxirhat area, who previously worked as a casual worker at Srirampur check gate under an Assam government department, attempted suicide in front of CM Secretariat in Dispur after he failed to meet the Assam CM.

A police official said that, the man became jobless after the state government closed all check gates in the state following implementation of GST.

“He came to the Capital Complex to meet the Assam CM but failed to meet the CM and attempted suicide in front of the CM secretariat,” the police official said.

Following the incident, a team of Guwahati city police rushed to the area and immediately admitted him at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

Meanwhile, doctors of the government hospital said that, the man is now out of danger.

The Assam government had demolished all check gates in the state after implementation of GST across the country and following the decision, thousands of casual workers worked at the gate have become jobless.
