Malayalam author Punathil Kunjabdulla dead
Kunjabdulla, who was a doctor by profession, had won the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel Smarakasilakal (1980) and the Kerala Sahithya Akademi award twice for the same novel (1978) and Malamukalile Abdulla (1980).
He is regarded as one of the front ranking figures of modernism in Malayalam literature.
His other major works include Marunnu, Kanyavanangal, Kathi and Aligarh Kathakal.
