Madhur Bhandarkar condoles religious leader Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi's death

Mumbai, Feb 28 (IBNS): Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar on Wednesday condoled the death of 69th pontiff of the Kanchi Mutt, Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi.

Jayendra Saraswathi died on Wednesday at an age of 82.

Bhandarkar tweeted: " Grieved to know about demise of Kanchi Seer #JayendraSaraswathi People will always be thankful for the educational institutes he started and some humanitarian programs for the underprivileged. My humble prayers for his departed soul. #OmShanti ."

Shankaracharya passed away after being admitted to a hospital with complaints of breathing problem.

His health condition was poor for the greater part of the last year.

He was the head of the mutt which was established by Adi Shankaracharya.

The mutt was established in the 5th century.
