Listen to the voice of inner conscience, Presidential nominee of Opposition Meira Kumar says

New Delhi, June 27 (IBNS) : Calling upon all political parties to listen to the "voice of inner conscience," Meira Kumar, the opposition candidate for Presidential polls, on Tuesday said the unity of the 17 parties backing her is based on a "common ideology."

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, the former Lok Sabha Speaker said she will go to Gandhiji's Sabarmati Ashram to start her campaign.

"You are aware of the political development going on the past couple of days," she said.

"17 opposition parties have picked me for presidential nominee. Thank them for placing their trust in me."

"This is the time when one should listen to voice of inner conscience...freedom of press, social justice, transparency, end of poverty, destruction of caste structure stands for this ideology," Meira Kumar said.

Perhaps to clarify the reason for heterogeneous political forces coming together, she said "Such things happen in politics."

Referring to Nitish Kumar's JDU deciding to support NDA-nominee Ram Nath Kovind, Meira Kumar said  two days ago she had written a letter to all members of collegium seeking their support.

"I will decide what to do at the right time," she said.

I will go to Sabarmati Ashram, will start my campaign from there:

Meira Kumar  will file her nomination papers on Wednesday for the Presidential poll.
