Tripoli/New Delhi, Aug 2 (IBNS): The two released Indian nationals, who were abducted allegedly by the Islamic State terror group in Libya, are likely to head back to India on Sunday, reports said.
After being released, the two Indian nationals identified Lakshmikant and Vijay Kumar reached the Indian Embassy in Tripoli on Friday itself.
The two Indian nationals were released on Friday.

The government earlier on Friday confirmed that four Indian nationals were abducted in Libya allegedly by the Islamic State terror group.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had tweeted: "Four Indians abducted in Libya - I am happy we have been able to secure the release of Lakshmikant and Vijay Kumar. Trying for other two."

MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup had tweeted: "Welcome news from Libya. 2 of the 4 detained Indians brought back safely to University of Sirte. Our efforts continue for the remaining two."

The Indian nationals are reportedly university teachers who were abducted from Sirte town near Tripoli on Thursday evening.

In Iraq 39 Indians have been missing from the last year after they were kidnapped at the height of the fighting between Islamic militants and government forces.
