Left leader Basudeb Acharia injured in 'TMC attack'

Kolkata, Apr 7 (IBNS): The CPI-M has said that Left leader Basudeb Acharia was injured when Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters allegedly attacked CPM activists in Purulia district on Friday. 

Acharia is a former Lok Sabha member.

According to reports, the incident reportedly occurred when Acharia  was accompanying candidates going to file nominations for the upcoming panchayat elections in the east Indian state.

The Pachanyat polls in West Bengal are scheduled to be held in May.

The CPI-M tweeted: "Widespread attacks by TMC goons on our comrades in Bengal. Today Comrade Basudeb Acharia, 9 times former MP was attacked today and had to be hospitalized. Protest and Resist! Save Democracy!."
