Leaders condole the passing away of Dr. A.R. Kidwai

New Delhi, Aug 25 (IBNS): People from all walks of life condoled the passing away of Dr Akhlaq Ur Rahman Kidwai, better known as Dr AR Kidwai.

Dr Kidwai, 96, a recipient of Padma Vibhushan, who passed away on Wednesday, served as the Governor of Bihar, West Bengal and Haryana at different times.

In a message to his son, Monis Kidwai, President Pranab Mukherjee said on Thursday, “I am sad to learn about the passing away Dr. A.R. Kidwai, an esteemed colleague and a dear friend of long years.

A freedom fighter, distinguished Parliamentarian and administrator, Dr. Kidwai served the nation in various capacities including as Governor of Bihar, West Bengal, Haryana and Rajasthan. In his death, the nation has lost an eminent leader whose services to the nation will always be remembered."

Vice President M. Hamid Ansari said that Kidwai upheld the highest Gandhian values and served the Nation as a freedom fighter, an able administrator, a Member of the Parliament and an educationist.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office quoting the PM on twitter said, "Dr. AR Kidwai distinguished himself in the fields of education and social welfare. May his soul rest in peace."

Tweeted Office of Rahul Gandhi, "Deeply saddened by the passing away of Dr AR Kidwai former Gov of Bihar,Bengal &Haryana.A scholar&a humanist his loss will be deeply mourned."

Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, tweeted, "Saddened by the news of veteran leader Dr A.R. Kidwai's demise. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family."
