Kolkata: Traffic sergeant manhandled by miscreants, 1 held

Kolkata, Dec 10 (IBNS): A sergeant of Kolkata Traffic Police was allegedly assaulted by few miscreants in north Kolkata's Chiriamore area on Friday, reports said.

According to reports, while the police officer was returning home with his wife, at least six men teased her and showed her abusive gestures in front of Cossipore Police Station.

When the policeman protested against it, he was badly beaten up by four youths.

Later, police rescued the sergeant and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was discharged after being provided first aid.

A complaint has been lodged at Chitpur Police Station against four attackers.

After starting investigation into the matter, police arrested the main accused- Raju Lodh, who is working at Dumdum GRP as a civic volunteer.

Till the last update came in, remaining three accused, who were named in the FIR, are still absconding.
