Kolkata: Teen killed in birthday party, 1 detained
Kolkata, Jul 24 (IBNS): A teenager boy was reportedly killed after being hit by a broken alcohol bottle during a birthday party on Saturday evening in south Kolkata's upscale Ballygunge area.
According to reports, the 17-year-old student of St. Xavier's Collegiate School, Abesh Dasgupta, joined his friend's birthday party with 17 other youths in a high-rise at Sunny Park area under Ballygunge Police Station limits.
Abesh Dasgupta, somehow, engaged in a scuffle with a friend and the boy suddenly hit on Abesh's belly with a broken alcohol bottle.
Abesh was seriously injured and rushed to AMRI hospital at Dhakuria area nearby, where he was declared brought dead.
Police from local police station and Kolkata Police's homicide department's officials have started investigation into the case. One suspect has been detained for interrogation.
"After preliminary investigation, we have come to know that the murder was not pre-planned. A love triangle dispute might have led to the killing," one senior official of Kolkata Police told IBNS
"We have started probe into the matter. One suspect has been detained and is being interrogated. We will quiz eye-witnesses, killed teen's friends and high-rising's security guards. CCTV footage of the area will be examined shortly," the official said.
