Kolkata: Metro service hit as man commits suicide

| | Dec 14, 2016, at 11:40 pm
Kolkata, Dec 14 (IBNS): Metro rail service in Kolkata has been disrupted as a man committed suicide at Rabindra Sarovar station on Wednesday evening, reports said.

According to reports, a nearly 35-year-old man jumped in front of a Kavi Subhas to Noapara bound train, which was arriving at Rabindra Sarovar station, at around 5:10 pm.

Following the incident, metro service has been stopped between Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) and Maidan stations.

Metro railway officials said that the man was killed on spot and has been stuck underneath the train.

"We are trying to recover the body, stuck under the metro, and it would take 20 to 30 minutes more," a metro official told IBNS.

"Until the body is rescued, metro service can not run between Tollygunge and Maidan," the officer added.

Identity of the man has not been known so far, according to police officials.

However, office to home bound commuters are suffering a lot due to the metro service disruption in the pick hours.
