Kolkata, Oct 16 (IBNS): Police on Sunday recovered a youth's body, hanging from a tree, beside Race Course ground under Maidan Police Station limits in Kolkata, officials said.

After being rescued, the body has been sent for post mortem.

Senior officials of Kolkata Police's homicide department and officers from local police station visited the scene, which is very close to Indian Army's Eastern Command headquarters Fort William, and have started investigation into the case.

Identity of the youth has not been known so far.

"Several external injuries have been found in youth's body and his face was full of blood. It indicated that he was killed somewhere and hanged here later," a senior official of Kolkata Police told IBNS.

"We are examining CCTV footage of the area to get a sound idea about the incident and we are trying to identify the youth," the official added.
