Kolkata: CBI arrests Chirag computer's directors Kaustav Ray, Shivaji Panja in alleged Rs. 515 crore bank fraud case

Kolkata, Mar 15 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested the founder-directors of RP Infosystems Ltd (Chirag), Kaustav Ray and Shivaji Panja, in connection with an alleged Rs. 515 crore bank fraud case, officials said.

According to reports, after being summoned, Kaustav Ray and Shivaji Panja appeared at the CBI office in Kolkata and they were arrested after a marathon interrogation.

"This was the fourth time, founder-directors of Kolkata-based RP Infosystems Ltd (Chirag computers) was grilled by our investigators on Thursday and they have been arrested in connection with a bank fraud case as their statements failed to satisfy us," a senior official of CBI told IBNS.

Earlier on Feb 28, the Central probe agency registered an FIR against RP Infosystems and its directors for allegedly defrauding at least 10 state-run banks of Rs. 515 crore.

Reports claimed that submitting fabricated documents, directors of RP Infosystems obtained huge loans from at least 10 state-run banks, including State Bank of India (SBI), its erstwhile associate bank- State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, Canara Bank, Federal Bank, UCO Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Union Bank of India, Central Bank and Allahabad Bank.

However, the arrested founder-directors of RP Infosystems will be produced to a city court on Friday, officials said.
