Kohli not a patriot: BJP MLA on Virushka marrying abroad
Guna, Dec 20 (IBNS): Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Panna Lal Shakya on Tuesday attacked Indian captain Virat Kohli for marrying Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma abroad, calling the skipper "not a patriot", media reports said.
The comment, which derived both criticisms and trolls, has been passed by Shakya while inaugurating a 'Skill India Center'. in Guna.
Addressing the gathering, the BJP MLA said: "Virat earned money in India... But he didn't find any place to marry in the country. Is Hindustan untouchable?"
"Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Vikramaditya, Yudhishthir got married on this land. You all must have got married here. None of us goes to a foreign country to get married ... (Kohli) earned money here and spent billions there (Italy)... (he) doesn't have any respect for the country. This proves he is not a patriot," he further added.
Shakya's comment was however disowned by the BJP which condemned their Madhya Pradesh leader.
Virat and Anushka got married in a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy on Dec 11. Post marriage, the newly wed-couple shared their pictures on social media.
Twitter was fast to react on the MLA's comment.

In a sarcastic tweet, Chikoo said: "To prove his real patriotism, virat kohli has cancelled is [sic] honeymoon and is now on Chaar Dhaam ki Yaatra."

Asking the BJP MLA to concentrate on his own work, Tajinder Bagga tweeted: "Mr Panna Lal,Virat Kohli is Country's pride & this is his personal life. He can marry anywhere in world, its not your work to tell him. Better you keep your mouth shut."

Prajakta Bhawsar even called Shakya "stupid". She said: "BJP MLA questioning Virat Kohli's patriotism for him getting married in Italy & not in India. This shows how stupid a person can be!"
