Kejriwal lauds EGI for condemning NDTV ban

New Delhi, Nov 4 (IBNS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday congratulated the Editors Guild of India for condemning the Information and Broadcasting Ministry's decision to take NDTV India off air for a day, for revealing 'strategically sensitive' information during one of its coverage.

"Congratulations to Editors Guild for showing courage to stand up against Modi Govt's dictatorship," Kejriwal's tweet read.

The I&B Ministry imposed the ban on the channel over its Pathankot terror attack reportage, even though the channel claimed that the same style was used by other media houses and accused the government of bias.

"The order of the MIB has been received. It is shocking that NDTV has been singled out in this manner. Every channel and newspaper had similar coverage. In fact NDTV's coverage was particularly balanced. After the dark days of the emergency when the press was fettered, it is extraordinary that NDTV is being proceeded against in this manner. NDTV is examining all options in this matter," an official statement from the channel read.
