Kashmir: Militants open fire in Pulwama, one injured

Srinagar, Feb 28 (IBNS): At least one person was injured as militants reportedly fired on him in Tral town of South Kashmir's Pulwama district.

The police identified the victim as Ajaz Ahmed Shah, who was shot near Eidgah Tral.

While he was rushed to a nearby hospital, later, as conditions deteriorated, the victim was moved to Srinagar.

Sources said many FIR's stand registered against Shah in police stations.

He had been once booked by police for masquerading as militant and extorting money from people.

"Today at about 06:20 PM some unknown militants fired upon one Aijaz Ahmad Shah aged about 38 years near Gol Masjid Tral," a police statement read.

"He was immediately taken to SDH Tral wherefrom he has been referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment. His condition is stated to be critical. Police is investigating the case," it said.
