Kashmir: 11 terrorists killed in Shopian gunfight

Srinagar, Apr 1 (IBNS): At least 11 terrorists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Dragad village of Shopian in south Kashmir on Sunday, officials said.

Apart from terrorists, three jawans and two civilians were also killed in the attack.

At least 16 people were killed in total in the gunfight that hit the area on Sunday.

Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir  SP Vaid tweeted: "Yes, the total number of terrorists neutralised in today’s three encounters is 11. The number could rise after the rubble of the house is removed."

He earlier said a top terrorist commander was among those killed in the gunfight.

The DG informed that one terrorist has been caught alive.

He tweeted earlier: "One terrorist killed in Dialgam Anantnag after efforts of his family/ J&K Police failed to surrender, one caught alive. In Draggad Shopian 7 bodies of terrorists recovered including top commanders."
