Kanhaiya should study first when on campus or join politics if he wants: Naidu
New Delhi, Mar 4 (IBNS) While JNU student union leader Kanhaiya Kumar is trending after his fiery speech on the campus following his release from the jail, a senior BJP minister reacted saying that he is getting free publicity and students should study in the central university funded by public money.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said Kanhaiya can join his favourite party (Communist Party of India or CPI) which does not have double digit presence in Parliament and do politics but on campus he should study first and then do politics since universities are funded by people's money.
"They are all studying at a central university, where public money is involved, so they must do justice to the cause and they must study. That is all. Why are they getting into politics? If they are interested in politics, they can leave studies and join politics.," he said.
Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested on sedition charges in February and was released from Tihar Jail on Thursday on an interim bail, has garnered a lot of support from many quarters, especially after his fiery "azadi" speech made at the JNU campus on Thursday night, targetting the Modi government and the Prime Minister himself.
