KAAC poll likely to be held on fourth week of December

Guwahati, Nov 26 (IBNS) : The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election is likely to be held on fourth week of December in this year.

A  source in Assam State Election Commission said that the Chief Electoral Officer might announce KAAC poll date shortly.

The top source said that the Assam State Election Commission is all set to announce the poll date.

“The poll likely to be held on fourth week of December,” the top source said.

The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) which is constituted with 26 elected members and four nominated members.

The last council election was held on Jan 4, 2012.

Meanwhile, after the grand success in the recent by-polls for Lakhimpur parliamentary constituency and Baithalangso assembly constituency, the BJP has prepared to clean sweep in the next council poll.

“We are ready for the next council election and hope the saffron party will form the next KAAC,” BJP’s Assam unit acting president Santanu Bharali said.

“People of the hill district want all rounds development and know about only BJP can do it,” Bharali said.

On the other hand, keeping aim to return in power the opposition Congress has adopted many political war tactics.

“In the recent Baithalangso by-poll, the vote share has gradually increased in favour of Congress and we hope for a grand success in the next council election,” Congress’s Assam unit president and Rajya Sabha member Ripun Bora said.
