J&K: Security forces engage in gun fight with militants

Srinagar, Dec 8 (IBNS): Fierce gunfight started between militants and the government forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.

According to reports, police, army police and special operations group of state police and central reserve police force surrounded Arwani

village late on Wednesday after receiving information about the presence of militants.

"As the security forces tightened the cordon, some gunshots were heard, but after that there was no exchange of fire, till Thursday
morning however today (Thursday) hiding militants started firing at the surrounding security forces.

“Heavy firing still going on between militants and security forces," a senior police officer told IBNS.

Unconfirmed reports suggest Lashkar-e-Taiba divisional commander, Abu Dujana was among the holed up militants inside the house.

However police and army maintained tight lipped on Dujana presence.
