Ranchi, Aug 10 (IBNS): Jharkhand wrestler Vishal Kumar Verma was electrocuted to death on Wednesday while pumping out water from a flooded Jaipal Singh stadium in the state capital, media reports said.

Apart from wrestling, Verma was employed to look after office works at the state unit.

The stadium was flooded due to the ongoing renovation works worsened by monsoon.

State wrestling association secretary, Bhola Nath Singh said Verma was found unconscious after which he was taken to a hospital. He was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying: "He didn’t respond to treatment and was declared dead. It’s an unfortunate incident."

Verma finished fourth in the 74 kg freestyle event during the last national meet in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh.

He also clinched a gold in the last Jharkhand state competition.
