New Delhi, June 24 (IBNS): Lyricist Javed Akhtar and actor cum parliamentarian Paresh Rawal expressed their strong reactions against the killing of deputy superintendent Mohammed Ayub Pandith by a lynch mob in Srinagar, which occurred on Thursday.

A Jammu and Kashmir police officer was killed by a lynch mob outside the landmark Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, on Thursday evening.

Apart from the death of Ayub Pandith, Akhtar condemned the attack on four Muslims in Haryana.

One minor Muslim boy was killed along with four others in a Mathura-bound train on Friday. The conflict which began from the disagreement over seat, later turned into a religious dissent.

On Twitter, he said: "Lynching of an officer in Kashmir n four innocent Muslims in Haryana. Brothers n sisters We all need to think calmly where are we going ."

Condemning the killing of DSP Ayub Pandith, Rawal said: "Mohammad Ayub is lynched just Outside mosque ,on Friday n in the holy month of Ramadan !"

Ayub was posted on an anti-sabotage duty outside the mosque when the mob attacked him.

Paying tribute to the dead DSP, Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehaboba Mufti Sayeed on Friday, said: "I would say it is a shameful incident. Jammu and Kashmir police is best in the country. They are brave and courageous. He was killed by own people and in his own locality, while doing his duty. For how long this will continue here? I urge people to refrain from such activities in future."
