Indian boys missing in France : CBI files human trafficking case, conducts raids in premises of agents
New Delhi, Dec 30 (IBNS) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case of human trafficking against three people for allegedly duping 25 teenage Indian students in the name of taking them to France for a Rugby training where they went missing, media reports said.
Searches were also carried out in the premises of the accused, Delhi based agents Lalit David Dean, Sanjeev Raj and Varun Choudhary.
They have been charged with human trafficking, cheating, forgery and using fake documents.
According to reports, the incident came to light after French officials found one of the boys with no valid documents and alerted Interpol.
The boys were from Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
The reports said early in 2016, the agents had made the parents believe that their children were being taken to France for rugby training.
The reports quotred CBI spokesperson Abhishek Dayal as saying that the parents were charged Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh each for the trip.
In their visa application, the agents had shown that the 25 children in the age group of 13-18 years were going to attend a rugby training camp in Paris.
The report also said that on reaching France, the boys were lodged at a Gurudwara.
A rugby session for a week was also organised in Paris. But the agents, who had kept the documents of the victims, cancelled the return tickets without informing the boys or their parents.After that the boys went missing.
After getting the information from interpol following the arrest of one of the boys by the French police, the CBI conducted a preliminary enquiry and registered an FIR.
The reports said the agency will soon contact the parents and also collect more information..
