Heatwave continues, death toll reaches 432
Hyderabad/New Delhi, May 25 (IBNS): At least 432 people have died so far in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as heat wave gripped most parts of India.
According to reports, the death toll due to the heatwave in Andhra Pradesh since May 18 rose to 246, after 84 more people succumbed across the state on Sunday. Prakasam district recorded the maximum number of deaths at 57, followed by Visakhapatnam(53) and Vizianagaram (40), official said.
There seems no respite from the scorching heat as the Indian Meteorological department has warmed that severe heatwave conditions are expected to continue in the two worst-hit southern states.
In Delhi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 43.5 degree celsius.
The temperature in Uttar Pradesh touched 47.7 degree Celsius.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also predicted heat wave like situation in Odisha as well.
Jharkhand capital Ranchi experienced 44.8 degrees celsius.
