Hardcore NDFB(S) militant killed in Assam gun fight

Guwahati, Dec 28 (IBNS): A hardcore NDFB(S) militant was killed during a gun fight with security forces in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Wednesday morning, police said.

Assam Police ADGP Dr LR Bisnoi said that based on specific input from Kokrajhar Police, a joint operation was launched by 7 Sikh LI and Kokrajhar at Laopani Ashrabari on the wee hours of Wednesday.

“At around 5-20 am, 3-4 suspected militants of NDFB(S) were seen suspiciously moving in the area. Upon being challenged, they opened fire. In retaliation, our ambush party also fired in controlled retaliatory mode. The exchange of fire lasted for almost 15 minutes and after the firing stopped, the troops cautiously searched the area and found one severely injured militant,” Bisnoi said.

The injured militant has been taken RNB Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar and doctors declared him brought dead.

The identity of the deceased militant is yet to be known.

Security forces have recovered one AK-56 rifle, one magazine, 11 rounds live ammunition, 9 fired cases, a live 36 grenade, one shoulder bag, one small blanket, one piece of cloth, black plastic sheet, two mobile phones, two active SIMs in possession from him.
