Handmade bomb weighing 2 kg found from a passenger bus in Guwahati

Guwahati, May 2 (IBNS): Assam police on Wednesday recovered a handmade bomb weighing about 2 kg from a passenger bus in Guwahati.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, Guwahati city police had checked a passenger bus coming from lower Assam’s Barpeta district to Guwahati and recovered the bomb packed into a bag at Basistha area in the city.

Top police official and bomb squad team had immediately rushed to the area and the recovered bomb taken away to Khanapara field, where it was defused safely.

Diganta Borah, Joint Commissioner of Police of Guwahati city police said that, kind of materials, powders which have been used for making crackers are found inside the bag.

“We have also found some glass pieces and connecting wires. It a low intensity bomb and bomb squad team had defused it safely,” the top Assam cop said.

Police had detained the driver and handyman of the bus in connection with it.
